On the 15th October 1997 Thrust SSC became the first car to ever break the sound barrier. Piloted by Wing Commander Andy Green of the RAF, a top speed of 763.035mph over the flying mile was achieved.
I've uploaded five videos, one on-board and four external (but unfortunately sound-free) videos that I found on the back end of a BBC website. Click on my profile for the list.

I was doing 160km/hour in my Panda 100Hp when I saw the vette coming. I few seconds later, I just got my camera from the passenger seat and opend my window when it came by.
I knew the guy... he was doing 320!
Although I knew he was going fast, he still scared the shit out of me.

Brian records a nice Bentley Flying Spur doing some high speed flybys and flooring it down a straight away. I NEVER record Bentleys, since they are far to common, but the owner was a freind of mine and the video shows what this car is capable of! I rode in the car as well, but we mainly used the car as a camera car to record another car.
0:26 sounds pretty good :)
